AI code review for Bitbucket Cloud pull requests

Solemly installs on a Bitbucket Cloud workspace and reviews every pull request in it. Each review is one comment on the pull request listing every finding with its file, line and severity, and the result is reported as Solemly / Review, Solemly / Security and Solemly / Summary build statuses that your merge checks can require.

What a review posts on Bitbucket

  • One comment on the pull request per review, with the summary followed by every finding and its file, line and severity.
  • Build statuses: Solemly / Review, Solemly / Security, Solemly / Summary and, with Jira connected, Solemly / Acceptance.
  • Replies to @solemly commands in pull request comments.

Bitbucket doesn't get inline comments yet. Findings are listed in the review comment with their file and line.

Install Solemly on a workspace

  1. In Solemly, open Repositories, choose Bitbucket and click Install on Bitbucket. Only workspace admins can connect a code host.
  2. Bitbucket opens in a new window. Choose the workspace and approve the install.
  3. Confirm you own the workspace when Bitbucket asks. The workspace is then linked to Solemly, and its repositories appear.

Start the install from Solemly's Install on Bitbucket button: an install started anywhere else can't be linked to your workspace. The app asks for the account, repository, pullrequest:write and webhook scopes. Every repository in the workspace is listed and starts with AI review turned on, which you can change per repository.

Require the check before merging

Turn on Block on high severity for the repository in Solemly, and the Solemly / Review build status fails on any CRITICAL or HIGH finding. Then, under Repository settings → Branch restrictions (or Merge checks) in Bitbucket, require a minimum number of successful builds with no failed builds. Enforcing merge checks needs a Bitbucket Premium plan; on other plans they're shown as warnings. See Block a merge on AI code review findings.

Jira acceptance checks on Bitbucket

With Jira connected, every pull request also gets a Solemly / Acceptance build status: whether the change does what its linked ticket asks. Requirements not yet done are listed in the review comment. See Check a pull request against its Jira ticket.
